Graph1.40Ethiopia is Africa’s 2nd largest (and the world’s 5th largest) cut flower exporter and is experiencing strong growth – since 2001, Ethiopia’s cut flower industry has grown by 147,000% – growing from US$145k to US$230M.  Kenya is Africa’s largest (and the world’s 4th largest) exporter of cut flowers with exports of US$645M in 2013. Ethiopia and Kenya account for 11% of the global cut flower market which has an estimated value of US$8.4B. In 2013, world leading PE firm KKR’s first investment in Africa was a $200M purchase of an Ethiopian cut-flower venture. Read more here…
