Nigeria Education Website Goes Live to Deepen Learning

homepage bannerA new website has been launched in Nigeria to open access to education information resources for both teachers and students in a move aimed at improving learning and teaching countrywide.

Launched Monday by the Minister of Education, Malam Ibrahim Shekarau, Nigeria-education.org aims to provide access to a range of information on basic education in Nigeria, including research, researcher profiles, journals and institutions. The site is an online resource for those interested in education in Nigeria, and provides access to information on education-related research, researchers, institutions, journals and Non-Governmental Organisations (such as funders, training and research organisations) in Nigeria.

Focused on Nigerian education, the site allows users to submit or access document in their areas of specialization to make it a credible source for research on basic education in the country. The site aims at providing access to a research database on  education in Nigeria, profiles of researchers,  journals and organisations working on education in the country.

The content will be filtered under topic or geographic coverage, journal type or year of publication as well as state-focused pages which will show research about the state, it’s researchers, journals and organisations working there. The site is basically a platform for sharing of research and information on education in Nigeria.

Users can range from education policy-makers, academics and researchers, development partners, media and Civil Society Organisations. The site will focus on access to education, gender and education, governance and education, non-state and private education, including religious education, educational outcomes. quality of education and teachers.

Documents to be included in the Nigeria Education database must be written in English, be relevant to the topic areas covered by Nigeria Education and be relevant to the primary audiences for Nigeria Education, and each document ought to address a pertinent issue in Nigeria education, have strong policy lessons, implications and or recommendations, originate from or be published by a reputable organisation and be written by authors or sponsors who have a record of research on basic education in Nigeria.The site will consider journal articles, research papers, research reports, policy documents, policy briefs etc., government publications, manuals, tool kits, practical guides, workshop, seminar or conference papers, evaluation reports, reviews, essays in journals, books (or chapters from) and development agency reports as well as periodicals.
