Ugandan Motorists to Pay for Fuel at Petrol Stations Via Mobile Money

Apart from sending and receiving money across networks, ATM withdrawals, bill payments and Airtime top ups, Airtel Money has signed up a deal with MOGAS, a service station with rcountrywide reach to allow Airtel subscribers pay for fuel and other services via their mobile phones.

MOGAS has 38 petrol stations in Uganda and apart from refill, sells other products and services to motorists.

Mr. Partha Ghosh, the Managing Director of MOGAS said the Airtel Money platform will help the firm serve it’s customers quickly and efficiently and also make payments streamless.

At Airtel, we put our customers first and partnering with well-established and constantly growing companies such as MOGAS to ease and improve their lives is testament to that,”  said Airtel Money Director – Mr. Nuhu Kanyike.

Mobile money payments are becoming popular in East Africa after the launch of M-Pesa in 2007. Several shops and restaurants have taken to mobile money because of its efficiency.
