Developed by Uganda’s CreativeDNA, NTV GO is a news application that not only allows users to get the latest feeds about what is happening in the country in form of video and text but also allows users to share these stories on their social media channels any time of the day.
The app in beta is also allows users to keep up to date with their favorite TV programs with the highly featured program guide and also allow users to submit their news to the TV using the n-report feature.
According to the CreatieDNA team led by Bryan Lamtoo, Atuhaire Elijah and Chrispinus Onyancha, “We have always had the desire to build something that will have great positive impact on the community and when NTV put up the Ideas Lab challenge, we were proud to participate and emerged as winners out of 200 participants from various companies around the country in that 4 month challenge.”
The trio built the NTV G0 on Android NDK technology but promise to expand to iOS and Windows phone platforms in the near future. Lamtoo adds that Intel has been quite supportive especially from the latest Intel event the firm had in Kampala where they learnt how to use the Android NDK technology, which has been really helpful in boosting the performance of the application making it more efficient.
“I would strongly recommend the Intel infrastructure for the local developers since it really helps to build products that can withstand the current environment in which they are deployed and have a good competitive edge in the market. Working with Intel helped us get more exposure in working with new technologies which when we incorporated within the application helped to boost its performance and efficiency,” says Lamtoo.
Using Intel Infrastructure has really made life for the developers, says Lamtoo and with more events and hackathons by Intel in the different Universities around the country, Lamtoo says many youth will be equipped with the knowledge they need plus the awareness on how to make their ideas into real apps and businesses.
