Nigeria’s FimVillage Wants to be Africa’s Largest Movie Database

10653312_729334087155657_4631891874011648997_nNigeria’s Fim Village aims to be the continent’s biggest movie social network with a focus on African movies and artists including games and as well as allow users to comment, critisize or review the movies, to help the African movie industry to grow.

“I remember searching for a particular movie information online and I couldn’t find it. I then notice that although we have good movies, but their presence online is not felt at all. What if there was an African Internet Movie Database?” says Ekom Otu. “W where you can get details about movies, the cast, the crew, stories, trailers, reviews from critics and community all in one place, after all Hollywood & Bollywood has it, so why cant we? So I partnered with 9flixTV(an online video streaming platform) to create fimvillage to provide that for Africans Moivie buffs.”

The database includes a movie directory, a celebrity directory, games and a community section known as Townhall used as a forum. Otu says the idea of Critics deciding Good Movies and Bad Ones instead of the actual Audience has never been a good idea and Fim Village aims to let the audience to decide which movies are good or which ones are bad depending on the ratings given by the members of the Fim Village community.

The platform also aims to let the audience become fans of their favourite celebrities, like them and the movies they have acted. Users can also add their movies to a wishlist, follow the events or movie launches and as well meet their own allows you to follow or be followed and best of all create a meeting zone for all lovers of African Movies.
