GrowthAfrica in partnership with Hivos, VC4Africa and Impact Amplifier invites your applications for our 2015 Green Pioneers Accelerator Programme.

The Green Pioneers Accelerator Programme is explicitly targeting start up businesses currently working towards mitigating climate change, promoting environmental conservation and maintaining technologies which minimize the effects of climate change in Kenya. The applicants should posses prior market demand and must be generating a revenue at the time of application.

This unique programme intertwines a proven curriculum, practical experiences and testimonies from other successful entrepreneurs, mentors and even investors. Upon completion of the programme, the entrepreneurs will be showcased to a group of selected investors and will have access to over both private and institutional investors. Also access to an investment of 50,000 Euros to the best companies as per the programme KPIs.

The programme invites 10-15start–ups with proof of concept to work with GrowthAfrica’s experienced facilitators , successful mentors, entrepreneurs in residence, alumni and peers during and after the programme to grow and scale their businesses.

Eligibility

To be eligible we would like you to have:

•An innovation advanced towards making the environment greener

- Ad -

•Operated as a for profit enterprise for over 1 year and making revenue from the business.

•A team working full time on this venture.

Focus Areas

•Energy saving technologies that are not limited to renewal energy (renewable energy, clean coal technologies, energy efficiency) targeting

both the end user and organisations

•Waste management technologies (waste recovery, recycling etc)

•Water management technologies

•Conservation technologies and solutions

•Sustainable agriculture technologies and solutions

Programme Structure

This in house 16 week programme is split into 8 parts of 2-day workshops at GrowthAfrica. We use our proprietary tool – the

ImpactCompass™; a framework designed to guide the teams through the fundamentals of transforming their product/service into successful company.

The programme will cover the following areas;

•Business modeling and strategic planning

•Products, services and market access development

•Connecting with partners in the business ecosystem, including multinational companies, NGOs and governments

•Financial modeling and valuations

•Engaging investors
