Shop the World with PayPal

paypal_logoAs a teaching assitant at a local private university, Raphael Wanjala has always wanted to dress elegantly but at an affordable cost. But Wanjala has been frustrated moving from boutique to boutique and tailor to tailor in the city without luck. He either couldnt afford the suits or the designs were so crappy he couldn’t even buy them.

He has always loved one Italian suit his friend bought for him after a trip to New York. Wanjala has never left the city and he even has no passport to think of travelling around Africa, leave alone New York. The only close he has go to his suits is admiring them on sites like SuitSupply, ShoeLine, He depends on friends flying in and out of the country to buy for him a suit or two everytiime they travel, but this has come with frustations, as some of the friends use up his money and only refund him when they are back-with no suits.

Wanjala and many others like him suffer quietly without knowing the power of PayPal, a US-owned technology and payments firm that allows anyone to shop the world from the comfort of their homes.

For ten years, he has been sending his friends who go on foreign trips to buy for him suits, books and electronics from Amazon and even laptops and Apple. But as fate would have it, most of this friends either overstayed their time, used up his money or just said the money wasn’t enough for the items he wanted. Until he discovered PayPal.

“I realized I could shop anywhere in the world with this simple account. I went to eBay and Amazon, shopped and paid using my PayPal account. And I just waited for a few days to have my stuff delivered. No more asking around which relative is leaving the US for Africa. No more sending third parties,” he told TechMoran.

According to Wanjala, PayPal is used by millions of customers around the world because it’s easy to use. With just an email address and password one will get through to checkout before faster than getting to their wallets or keying in M-PESA business numbers.

PayPal is free to open and to transfering money from your bank account to your PayPal account is also free. There is also no charge to purchase items using your PayPal account. There are fees when receiving payments for goods and services, receiving payments from friends and family made using a debit or credit card and receiving payments from people in other countries.

Instead of using credit and debit cards, PayPal is becoming a popular alternative for purchasing goods online as it enables any individual or business with an email address to securely send or receive payments online. It also doesn’t limit users as anyone with a with a PayPal account can still pay with their credit card, debit card, bank account but paying with your PayPal account means your credit card and bank numbers are never seen by the seller or merchantand you are 100% protected against unauthorized payments sent from your account.
