Vodacom Tanzania has hired Alliance Media,a digital signage firm on a new country wide campaign focused on encouraging people to save money through their phones. Vodacom has started the M-Pawa campaign and the large format billboards can be seen all over Tanzania.
The firms are putting billboards across the country in busy places such as the Daladala Bus Park and other high traffic areas to help everyone save this festive season.
Launched in March this year in Tanzania in partnership between CBA and Vodacom, the mobile money savings and credit platform is built on the same objectives and technology as Kenya’s M-Shwari, which runs on Safaricom’s M-PESA and does the same thing. The mobile savings scheme in June announced it had hit over 250,000 accounts with over 50,000 customers making a total saving of Tshs1.2 billion.
M-Pawa’s simple and user-friendly menu also allows customers to save from as little as Tshs 1 and to borrow money depending on their savings and credit history. Depositing and withdrawing money on M-Pesa is completely free .
