Ending the year in style, Jumia, Africa’s largest online retailer hosted a special customer appreciation event to thank its customers for a record-breaking year in e-commerce with promised flash sales and massive store wide discounts for customers to enjoy.
The retailer had a few weeks ago set a record for e-commerce in Africa, hosting a Black Friday sale which beat every other sale in the year, with tens of thousands of orders and over 1.5 million visits to their website in a single day.
The customer appreciation event which kicked off at 8am on Friday Dec 12, 2014 held for 12 hours with 12 mega deals every hour, and amazing deals across all categories on the website for the day.
Customers who went on social media to talk about how much they had anticipated the sale, were truly amazed at the quality of deals and full of praise for the well managed nature of the event by the Jumia team.
Deals were sold out within a few hours, with over 50% of visitors accessing the website through a mobile device via Android , iOS and other mobile chat channels.
Customer favorite deals were the InnJoo phones, Infinix Zero, Samsung TV, and the Samsung Galaxy S5, as they sold out quickly on the website.
