Rocket Internet’s Hellofood/foodpanda has today acquired Donesi.com in Serbia, Montenegro, and Bosnia & Herzegovina, Pauza.hr in Croatia and Netpincer in Hungary just months after acquiring similar rivals in India and Mexico
and in Rusia
Hellofood has operations across Africa, though it’s struggling to pick up due to the continent’s food eating habits (unlike other countries where the food ordering culture is commonplace and logistics sorted, in Africa food is stil a family thing) the acquisitions will help establish it as market leader in each of these countries and reach market leadership faster.
This move comes just days after consolidating the market in India and Mexico, through the acquisitions of TastyKhana and PedidosYa, foodpanda also targets market leadership in Central Eastern Europe. The region plays an important role in foodpanda’s global strategy. In Serbia, Montenegro and Bosnia & Herzegovina, foodpanda takes over Donesi.com
. foodpanda will merge operations under the Donesi brand and customers will have access to an increased number of over 550 restaurants. Croatia’s online food delivery company Pauza
.hr will continue to operate under its own brand.
The firm also says through the acquisition of NetPincer.hu, it gains market leadership in Hungary. NetPincer works with over 550 restaurants in all major cities in Hungary.
Ralf Wenzel, Co-Founder and Managing Director of foodpanda group: “foodpanda has always been focusing on Central Eastern Europe as one of the most important food delivery markets.
