Airtel Malawi has entered into a three year partnership with the British Council; this partnership will see the two parties provide ICT in the country’s primary schools and mostly in the rural areas.

He added that the biggest issue there is in sub-Saharan Africa is connectivity.

The British Council, according to the MD, will be enhancing and furthering education in the rural areas; saying that the partnership had started about a month ago where a digital hum was launched at St. Mathews Primary School in Malawi.

“ICT integration in primary schools in Malawi is the now thing, it is what is going to shape the much needed future of this country and ultimate graduate our communities into competitive global citizens,” said Airtel MD.

Airtel’s role in the partnership is providing full internet access to British Council hubs with 5GB of monthly data for three years.

Having six digital hubs across Malawi, Reena Johl of the British Council, said that that was an opportunity for teachers, learners and the community at large to be able to connect with the world; not only in education but also in community initiatives and also business.
