
Airtel has announced that the winner of Airtel TRACE Music Star will be revealed on 10th January 2015 for the Kenya edition after the judges Chris Adwar, Atemi Oyungu, and Wyre sieved through thousands of submissions and selected the best 6 finalists, who auditioned for the competition by calling 0900 733 733 between October 5th, 2014 to December 12, 2014.
The six were selected based on a combination of singing skills- quality, pitch, originality, tone, range. The competition also involved public participation where they were allowed to vote for their favorite entry through a short code 33733 and the entry with the highest number of votes received was also considered in finalists’ selection.
The unveiling of the six finalists: Bliss, Webi, Joy, Njeri, Phyllis and Trina provide an opportunity for the public to vote for their favorite contestant to be the next African Big Star. The winner from Kenya will then take part in the Pan African Airtel Trace Music Star competition involving 13 other countries at the end of February 2015.
People can vote for their favorite candidate to move to the Pan African level and win the National prize by sending their name to their specific short codes as below:

The winner of the Kenya’s edition of the Airtel TRACE Music Star will walk away with a cash prize worth 1.5 million and a ticket to compete at the Pan African event. First runners up will walk away with a phone worth Sh 90 000 and cash worth Sh100 000, with the second runners up winning a phone worth Sh 50 000 and cash worth Sh 50 000.
The overall Pan African winner will walk away with a prize of 30 000 Euros in cash, a recording deal with Universal music, mentorship by AKON and a 5 star trip to New York City.
