The government of Nigeria has launched an Electronic Revenue Collection platform to identify revenue theft, diversion of collected revenue and other corrupt practices associated with revenue collection.
Jonah Otunla, Nigeria’s Accountant General said that all Ministries, Departments and Agencies of government had been directed to comply with the new platform by closing their Revenue Accounts with Deposit Money Banks latest by February 28. He said that the revenue account should be transferred to the Consolidated Revenue Fund of the Federal Government.
According to him, the use of the project was starting on the first day of this year and should be the only platform to be used as, according to him is centralized, transparent and accountable Internal Generated Revenue management system.
