CEO Weekends: Orange sponsors the Africa Cup of Nations to acquire subscribers

ORANGEOrange has yet again sponsored the Africa Cup of Nations set to be held in Equatorial Guinea this year after hosting last years tournament in Gabon in 2012.

This event is Orange biggest branding opportunity and is aimed at helping the firm to acquire more susbscribers as well as expand across the region and continent.

Dubbed the Orange Africa Cup of Nations, the touranament will see the participation of teams from Cameroon, Côte d’Ivoire, the Democratic Republic of the Congo, Guinea-Conakry, Mali, Senegal and Tunisia.

As a title sponsor, Orange wilbrand will be visible in the stadiums of Equatorial Guinea and in the African countries and will give viewers exclusive content totheir mobile phones and on the Web via Orange Football Club and the StarAfrica portal.

Orange has also said it will set up “Orange Villages” with giant-screen broadcasts of key matches as well as the organisation of football-based video game competitions and photo contests.

The firm’s Orange Football Club will offer the latest live news to fans of African, European and international football for free on the web, mobile phones and on social networks. The firm has also set up a  Golden Ticket: an online treasure hunt to find virtual tickets hidden in a series of on-screen pictures with prizes.
