Huawei Reports $46.5 billion Revenue for 2014

According to the KPMG-audited annual report; Huawei’s revenue and net profit for 2014 has shown a great improvement.

Huawei’s overall Group revenue has reached CNY288.2 billion ($46.5 billion), an increase of 20.6 percent from 2013, and Group net profit reached CNY27.9 billion ($4.5 billion), up 32.7 percent year on year.

“Our strong revenue growth in 2014 can be attributed to a continuous focus on our pipe strategy, while profit increase stems from streamlined management and improvements in overall efficiency,” said Ken Hu, Deputy Chairman of the Board and Rotating CEO. “With heavy investment in innovations in areas such as cloud computing, big data, 5G, SDN and NFV, we believe we are well positioned to capture the tremendous business opportunities in this digital transformation era.”

All Business Groups (BGs) performed strongly in 2014:

Huawei continues to invest heavily in innovation. In 2014, Huawei invested CNY40.8 billion (USD6.6 billion) into research and development (R&D), representing 14.2 percent of 2014 revenue and a significant increase of 29.4 percent from 2013. Huawei has invested more than CNY190 billion ($30.7 billion) in R&D over the past decade.

Huawei Technologies set up its office in Kenya 16 years ago and has over the years contributed to the development of the ICT industry in the country.

In June 2014 Huawei signed an MOU with ICTA that will see Huawei serve as a local ICT advisor for ICTA by being part of the monitoring committee of the ICT master plan.

Under this MOU, “Seeds for the Future” flagship project aimed at providing internship, training and mentorship opportunities to university students while incorporating tours for top interns to China for further training.

Huawei successfully flagged off the first 9 excellent interns for 2 weeks training on culture and language in Beijing and ICT training at the Huawei headquarters in December 2014.Huawei was also appointed to be part of the advisory council selected to implement the PDTP programme that was launched by the President Uhuru Kenyatta in February 2015.
