Kenyan woman in effort to make homes smokeless

unnamed (1)Tired of seeing mothers spend large amounts of their daily budget on firewood, and children breathing in the smoke from cooking fires and kerosene lamps a Kenyan woman has set out to create smokeless homes in Kenya.

An alumni of the accelerator program from Spark International, Carol Odera is getting solar panels onto Kenyan roof at a price cheaper than kerosene, and already 1000 Kenyans are living in her smokeless homes.

In 2013  Caroline was selected as a Spark Changemaker. She participated in a one week live in intensive entrepreneurship training which we call ‘The Accelerator’. We then provided her support with access to web designers, graphic designs, accountants, lawyers, business coaches and mentors. She could also access small rounds of $250 to overcome barriers or test ideas,” said Patrick O’Callaghan ,Kenya Country Manager  of Spark International.
