Just as we are working to prove rumours of Wari money transfer launching in Nigeria, London-based digital money transfer provider SimbaPay has today announced the launch of its money transfer service to Nigeria allowing anyone living in the UK to send money to Nigeria to any bank account or mobile phone instantly with zero fees over its SimbaPay app or website.
We expect this guys to cause a drop in MoneyGram and Western Union transfers and eat into PayPal’s local growth a bit with it’s various limitations.
“We’re excited by the launch into Africa’s largest economy” said Nyasinga Onyancha, CEO for SimbaPay. “It’s awesome to be eliminitating high money transfer fees for Nigerians in the UK who are sending money to their loved ones”.
Nigerians living in the UK with a bank account, debit card or credit card will be able to use the SimbaPay app from any mobile phone, tablet or computer. Transfers made using SimbaPay are credited within seconds to recipients’ bank accounts or mobile money wallets eliminating the inconvenience of queues and old school paperwork. The service will gradually be rolled out to Nigerians living in other EU countries.
SimbaPay provides daily locked-in exchange rates for the Nigeria Naira (NGN). The SimbaPay app can be downloaded for free from the Apple or Android app stores.
