UberX has hit one year in South Africa and wants every one to ditch their car keys and ride in comfort without worrying about e-tolls, broken winshields, bad hair days or broken umbrellas.
The firm is giving all its users a 20% discount off their rides anywhere in South Africa for this month of June to celebrate its one year anniversary.
“For the month of June, uberX fares will be reduced by up to 20% nationally. uberX launched into South Africa one year ago,” Uber South Africa announced. “We couldn’t have gotten this far without the continued support from our riders and partner drivers. To say thank you, we are dropping fares…BIG TIME!”
Due to the fare drops, users are able to get from the CBD to the airport for R120 in Cape Town or from Sandton to the airport for R203 in Joburg and from Umhlanga to the airport for R116 in Durban.
Now five year old, Uber is now in over 300 cities and says the lowered prices also mean more trips for drivers every hour which results into more earnings. The firm adds that as a user, you receive a free ride up to R150 each time a new user signs up and rides on your personal promo code and you have more free rides running you through July.
Anyway, if this sounds too good to be true, grab your promo code and share it with your friends and get rolling.
