The OPPO Neo 3 comes in a White and Green packaging all wrapped in a shinny nylon covering to avoid any damage by water or dust we guess. After the branding package, it has an internal hard cover packaging also in white and green. The packaging is sturdy and protective.
Inside the box we have a grey OPPO Neo 3 phone, its battery, an earpiece, a USB cable and the VOOC Charger. The phone is grey in colour while the accesories are white. It also comes with a 13 month Warranty card,a quick guide to using the phone and an important information guide which is more of a manual too.
The OPPO Neo 3 has a 4.5 inch 854 by 480 capacitive touch screen, has a 2MP front camera and 5MP rear camera, it’s 132 by 65.8 by 9.2 mm in size and weighs about 130g.
On its front face, the OPPO Neo 3 has the front camera, and an infrared sensor at the top. There’s a small section which we presume is not a fan but a mouthpiece or something of the sort but don’t worry, its just a few minutes we have had with the OPPO Neo 3. At the bottom it has a menu key on the left, home key in the middle and a return key on the bottom right. On the left edge it has a power button while on the right it has a volume button.
On the back cover, the phone has a speaker a the bottom, its main camera at the top with a sensor below it and the OPPO logo just below the sensor/ flash. On removing the bac cover, we realize the OPPO Neo 3 is a dual SIM phone. Uses only micro SIMs and has a slot for a microSD and of course you’ll the huge camera eye but its just 5MP. All the SIMs are 3G enabled.
On the top shiny grey edge, at the far right we have the phone’s ear piece jack while the bottom shiny grey edge has a charging port at the far right too!
The phone’s battery is a 1900 mAh Li-on battery which means is rechargeable.
The OPPO Neo 3 has a dual-core 1.3GHz processor and has 1GB RAM and 2.42GB internal memory and runs ColorOS, a customised Android 4.2.2. Looking at the phone’s RAM and internal memory we think it’s not so powerful as we thought but let’s wait for a complete review after using it for sometime.
At Ksh 11,000, possibly OPPO is using this phone to help it cover the middle smartphone consumer who wants an affordable smartphone, medim performance as in no games etc but just for connectivity. The Android phone gives the users access to as many apps as possible as long as the user can extend the phone’s memory using a microSD.
We realize that the phone has gesture control for the home screen, camera and several others. We will get a deep dive soon!
