Airtel Africa has engaged Yaya Touré to help it acquire youthful customers in Africa in a campaign dubbed “It’s Now”.
The campaign seeks to nurture and grow talent in Africa through sports, lifestyle and music by providing connectivity and technological solutions towards this goal.
In a statement, Airtel Africa Chief Executive Officer, Christian de Faria said, “We are excited to be signing the pact with Mr. Touré who is respected in Africa and beyond. As the first player to win African Player of the Year four consecutive times, Touré is an inspiration to everyone working to achieve their potential and striving to be their best every day.”
The It’s Now campaign follows Airtel’s recent Unliminet campaign targeted at data hungry youthful users. Though the continental campaign is aimed at nurturing talent among youth in Africa and is a CSR initiative, Airtel Africa is strategically using this new campaign to acquire youthful customers across Africa.
