rocket-internet-logoBerlin-based Rocket Internet is reportedly working on an ad nerwork to exclusively run among its huge online portfolio of companies according to people with the knowledge of the plan.

The ad and affiliate network will be operated by Rocket Internet for Rocket Internet companies only and its own partners and investors. Some of its partners and investors include Millicom(Tigo) MTN Group, Ooredo Telecom, Tengelman Group, Texas Atlantic Capital and PLDT, Investment AB Kinnevik, Access Industries, United Internet, Global Founders Fund and Holtzbrinck Ventures among others.

The ad network, if fully developed will help the startup builder advertise its companies and their services without paying billions of dollars to third party ad networks owned by competing firms. Rocket Internet has a portfolio of over 40 companies who can work as affiliates or advertisers through its rockaffiliate.com which is now secured for public access.

Rocket Internet runs firms such as Jumia, Kaymu, Hellofood, Zencap, Everjobs, Carmudi among others so its ads will just rotate on this sites with no external advertisers. We are not sure if Rocket Internet will close out Facebook and Google and several others from advertising on their sites like they have closed other firms from using their ad or affiliate network.

More on this to come.

Here is a link to more information albeit not in English.
