UK-based Tappago Technologies is set to launch in Nigeria, Kenya and Uganda promising to reinvent the taxi service in Africa.
Available for iOS and Android, The on-demand taxi service via Mobile App just like Uber, Easy Taxi, Mara Moja and Mondo Ride is now hiring drivers in Lagos, Kampala and Nairobi. On launch, users will be able to use standard saloon cars, Motorcycles, tuk tuk, bus for 8 passengers,
TAPPAGO, like any other demand taxi service, users hail a cab or motorcycle or share a ride and track the location of the drivers via a Mobile App on their mobile phones while taxi drivers get a modern, real-time dispatch to know where and when demand is.
Users can sign up via social sign in or email and password. Then enter their location and destination, get their fare estimate and get connected with a vetted driver. The user can then tack their driver as they approach. On arrival at their destination, there is choice to pay via cash or credit card.
It’s success will determined by a lot of factors some of which we think will include user safety, pricing and driver partner compensation. A number of drivers are considering not working with Uber because they think its commision is high while others think the volume of trips they get from Uber are the industry’s highest.
