Kenya’s daily deals site Rupu.co.ke has joined Ringier Africa’s Deals Group (RADG), a newly formed joint venture between Swiss Ringier Africa AG and South African Silvertree Internet Holdings Ltd which recently acquired DealDey, Nigeria’s eCommerce pioneer and online deals leader.
Ringier Africa, which has a strong foothold in a number of African Market’s carved out Kenya’s leading online shop Rupu,out of Ringier Kenya and Tisu, aGhanaian online deals platform,out of Ringer Ghana.
Damien Bonnabel, the acting CEO of RADG, stated that this move is aimed at catapulting the 3 platforms to new heights to become key players in the ecommerce industry in Africa.
With growing digital trends and as the online shopping industry starts to mature in Africa, consumers are not only looking for a good deal but also for ease of shopping and excellent customer service. With this as it’s backbone, RADG has a huge potential to positively change consumer shopping trends by providing convenience and quality in how goods and services are acquired.
With this move, Rupu also recently appointed Stacey Ondimu, former Head of Operations, and Claire Chege as it’s new joint Managing Directors. Both Stacey and Claire voiced that the new group not only allows Rupu to grow both nationally and regionally but will also provide a greater opportunity for local brands to use the platform to provide Kenyans with great offers at a lower price.
