Operated by First Choice Global Limited (FCG), SawaPay aims to make international money transfers simple and convenient between anyone in the US and Kenya at Zero Fees.
The firm will eat Western Union’s lunch as well as MoneyGram, SimbaPay, TaiwoPay, WordRemit among others which are firt expanding across Africa. The web and mobile based application allows remittances directly to bank accounts, M-PESA or Paybill for zero fees. This will allow customers to have the ability to pay for utilities such as water, power and mortgages.
Nairobi-based FCG says it’s working with CoinX, as its Exclusive Correspondent Agent for Sub Saharan Africa, a move that will help both firms expand across Africa with affordable remittances services. The major challenge at the moment is Sawa Pay itself. The firm needs to vigourously acquire customers in both Kenya and US to beat its counterparts. Nothing is easy and it becomes even harder when money is involved, the firm has to earn and keep the customers trust from day one to keep returning and referring it to their friends and family.
Sawa Pay’s initial market is Kenya but remittance is a huge need in Africa and it will make business sense for them to expand across Africa. The firm aims to to do more than just sending money by paying bills and standing orders as well. It has presence in over 40 States in the U.S. and growing and aims to be a turnkey Solution for Remittance Payment offering one stop solution.
Sawa Pay API would be open too for developers to build their own product lines to work easily with Sawa Pay.
