Design and Display
The 5.5 inch display has a 720 by 1280 resolution and a density of 320 dpi and the screen resolution isn’t impressive, but Infinix’ target market is feature phone users who want to jump into smartphone use. Don’t expect to see the colours as pure as they are in nature but nearly pale or at times exagerrated so the photos and videos you watch. The multi-touch works fine.
This is a slightly well designed phone, a bit sleek to the low-end market. To make it even better, it’s light and thin and fit in anyone’s pocket or purse as they do their errands on the farm, at school or even in town. I could imagine a number of users loving it’s design. The location of the main camera and LED flash at the back is perfect for photography and the phone is a fit in the palm. It’s slim and curved edges and corners are on point. The major problem I have with it is the location if USB port on the top edge than the bottom one. This makes using the phone while charging difficult.
You should be looking at the phone’s performance-i.e processor speed, multi-touch, multitasking, phone lag, voice quality, gaming, music and whatever you want to use your phone for. However, you need to put in mind that most times cheap means poor perfomance especially anything involving hardware.
The MediaTek MT6580 quad-core processor running at 1.3GHz is a bit efficient and though limited with a 1GB RAM, you are able to use most at least five or so apps at normal working speed rates and have nearly five browser tabs but if you crank up your phone to crazy speeds and heavy games, you will have to reboot/ restart it.
At Ksh 7,899, the HOT 3 is a good deal and please go buy it for medium media consumption, voice and its battery life. Not so good for photographers even when it’s touted as a selfie phone.
We wanted to look at the battery lastly as its the main thing to make your phone function. Cameras, RAM and memory size at this low-end market are secondary. The HOT 3 comes with a 3000mAh removable battery. On normal use-voice and SMS you can have your 12 hours when fully charged while half that on heavy data and media use such as music and videos. If you turn it to ultra save mode, you get some extra three hours of juice.
You want to know about OTG (on the go). You can use it as a charger for other phones, a flash disk or data transfer and vice versa.
