Vodacom Tanzania has partnered with Nokia to launch 4G in Tanzania, Nokia is also deploying and Managing Vodacom TZ network apart from the 4G commercial launch.
Nokia is also providing 2G and 3G equipment for Vodacom Tanzania .
Speaking at the launch event, Vodacom’s Managing Director, Ian Ferrao said, “We have partnered with Nokia to roll out the fastest 4G network in Tanzania, with all sites connected to our metropolitan fiber network. All major cities in Tanzania can expect to have Vodacom’s 4G network rolled out in the future.”
Vodacom adds that once spectrum is available, it’ll accelerate its roll-out plans to launch 4G across the country. Vodacom’s 4G LTE Network is expected to give customers up to 70mbps on launch but the mobile operator is targeting 200 Mbs Mobile Broadband Access offered very soon in Tanzania.
Nokia & Vodacom Tanzania promise subscribers world class Mobile Broadband Service and promise to continue to deploy LTE in more cities in Tanzania, and be very focused on a executing on Quality of Service.
Vodacom follows competitors Smile, Tigo and Smart who already launched 4G months ago. Tanzania Telecommunication Company Limited (TTCL) also launched the Fourth Generation – Long Term Evolution (4G-LTE) late last year.
