In a move to bring its youth-focused content to as many territories as possible, mixing local and international news, culture and lifestyle programming to young viewers across online, television and mobile, VICE & Econet Media have partnered to bring Viceland to 17 countries in Africa by end of 2017.
Botswana, Ethiopia, Ghana, Kenya, Lesotho, Liberia, Malawi, Namibia, Nigeria, Rwanda, Swaziland, Democratic Republic of Congo, Sierra Leone, Tanzania (incl Zanzibar), Uganda, Zambia and Zimbabwe will be covered by Econet Media while Egypt and Algeria will be covered by Moby Media Group.
The 19 countries across Africa will have a 24-hour channel distributed through Econet Media and will be available exclusively on Kwesé TV, which will offer programming (in English) on both internet and satellite based platforms when it launches.

By acquiring the rights to screen this channel, we are adding a unique new dimension to our programming line-up as we prepare to launch Kwesé TV.”
Apart form the Econet Media deal, VICE Founder and CEO Shane Smith announced a series of digital, mobile and linear deals with a roster of media partners that will significantly increase the youth brand’s international footprint, ushering in new audiences, new revenue streams across production, licensing and advertising, and new local studios and channels.
The deals range from 3-screen market entries in India and the Middle East, to 24-hour TV channels across Australia and New Zealand to a stand-alone TV channel across Southeast Asia.
Other partners include the Times of India Group (ToI) for India market entry across digital, mobile, and TV, the MOBY Group for Middle East market entry across digital, mobile, TV and SBS Australia to launch VICELAND across Australia.
Sky New Zealand will launch VICELAND across New Zealand on Sky TV and Sky Mobile while Multi Channels Asia will launch VICELAND across Southeast Asia. Groupe V Media to launch VICELAND in Quebec and throughout French speaking Canada.
VICE has distribution partnerships with A+E Networks, HBO, YouTube, Snapchat, Sky, Live Nation, 20th Century Fox, Verizon, Canal+, Spotify and more to take its programming to young people everywhere.
