Econet Media’s Kwese Sports has acquired the rights to stream all Formula E sessions including practice, qualifying and every race of the all-electric racing series, including the HKT Hong Kong ePrix on October 9 across Africa.

The agreement gives Kwese Sports exclusive rights, including TV, for the 2017/18 season via its Kwese Sports live streaming service.

According to Ali Russell, Director of Media at Formula E: “The developing economies of sub-Saharan Africa means that this is a region of the world where there is a great potential for growth, and this means a huge potential for new Formula E fans. We believe that Kwese offers the perfect platform for raising awareness of Formula E and showcasing our fantastic product to an important new market.”

The full list of territories where Formula E is available on Kwese Sports is as follows:

Botswana, DR Congo, Eritrea, Ethiopia, Ghana, Kenya, Lesotho, Liberia, Malawi, Namibia, Nigeria, Rwanda, South Africa, South Sudan, Swaziland, Sierra Leone, Tanzania, Uganda, Zambia and Zimbabwe.

Econet Media CEO Joseph Hundah, said: “Our partnership with Formula E aligns our core values of bringing our viewers premium sporting content and making a positive impact on the African continent. Formula E’s sustainability conscious all-electric racing format brings additional diversity to what is already a compelling Kwese Sports offering. We are thrilled to be the first to bring African viewers the latest from the Formula E circuit.”
