On July 27th during Seedstars Luanda, Wi-Connect won the Angola round of Seedstars World and will represent the country at the Seedstars Summit in Switzerland to compete for up to USD 1 million in equity investment.
The local winner, Wi-Connect, a solution that is making internet free and available for all Angolans. was selected the best startup in Angola. “We have created this startups because we believe that making everyone connected has the opportunity to make Angola a better place.” explains Paulo Aurojo, Founder and CEO of Wi-Connect.
As a part of the prize, Wi-Connect will be participating at Seedstars Summit, taking place in Switzerland in March 2017, a weeklong training program with the opportunity to meet the other 60 winners, as well as investors and mentors from around the world. Traditionally, the final day of the Summit will be dedicated to pitching in front of audience of 1000 attendees, with the possibility of winning up to the USD 1 million equity investment.
1st runner up was Kiandastream, a music streaming service focussed on African artists and bands and SOBA, an e-commerce fashion company, grabbed the last spot in the top 3. The other startups invited to pitch were Ponto, Manifesto, Kamputer, Ingresso, Nguimbi, Buka and Tupuca– a website that helps people who love to learn find people who love to teach.
