This year’s OLX Soma Awards attracted social media users from different walks of life and recognized some of them for making good use of social media hence positively impacting the society. Agriculture being one of the most important source of revenue in the country, received a tremendous recognition from OLX Soma Awards stakeholders. Speaking during the release of Soma nominees, OLX Kenya country manager, Peter Ndiang’ui, noted that farmers have a great opportunity in use of e-commerce. They can now connect with their potential buyers online.
In a move to foster peaceful elections in 2017, Dennis Itumbi urged Kenyans on Twitter to set an agenda that will make Kenyans desist from violence, “it’s time people turn their gadgets into handles of truth.” Itumbi said. To add on that, OLX country manager commented “elections are around the corner and influencers need to pass positive remarks on social media.”
