Snapchat has unveiled its new spectacles

snapchat-glasses

Snapchat is one of the most prevalent messaging apps popularly known for remarkable filters. Apart from the filters and videos, snapchat CEO announced its first gadget “spectacles”. The sunglasses which look like any other sunglasses are quite different from the normal ones we know. The glasses will record up to 30 seconds of video at a time. This goes to show that snapchat will go beyond the messaging app and will perhaps have more devices in the future. The apparent ambition has made the company rename their company to Snap.

So how do the spectacles work?  For starters you won’t have to use your phone for your snap stories anymore. The spectacles can record video snippets that get saved to your snapchat memories. For the camera lovers, the glasses have a camera that has a 115-degree lens meant to be approximate to how close humans can see. The glasses will also be available in three different colors; black, teal and coral. It may sound like a complicated affair but to use the glasses is actually very easy. The glasses have a button on the top-left hand corner of the sunglasses to begin the recording. The recording can last for 10 seconds but you can press the button again for an increment. Just to be sure that you are recording while wearing the glasses there is an inward –facing light that turns on when you’re snapping. The longest you can record a video for is 30 seconds.

For android users the videos would be transferred through WIFI as for the IOS users they would transfer the snaps using a Bluetooth connection. Most people remember their phones because of their camera’s or to snap about their experiences. If you happen to leave your phone behind you don’t need to worry because the glasses can be used as a standalone device then they would store the snaps until you return to your phone. The camera is said to be so good that it mimics the way the human eyes sees. When you’re playing your snaps on your phone it can either be played in portrait or landscape form. The battery is meant to last for about a day although it also depends on how much you use them. Although no one really knows the quality of the photos produced yet, it seems to be a promising device.
