Motorola Solutions Africa yesterday launched a number of critical communication devices and solutions in Kenya, targeted at both the growing SME market segment and the already established construction, assembly and manufacturing plants.

The firm said the solutions will help them to enhance their critical communications both on premise or remotely via instant Push-To-Talk (PTT) technology. The WAVE Mobile Communicator was one outstanding solution.

Using the SME built WAVE 3000 or the enterprise grade WAVE 5000, firms can connect and communicate in real-time as long as they are connected via a broadband push-to-talk network regardless of their size. Available for both Android or iOS apps, WAVE turns any iOS or Android device into a multi-channel walki-talkie.

According to Maor Aharoni, Communications Manager Israel & Sub-Saharan Africa, ”WAVE is the security industry’s most powerful and flexible push-to-talk over broadband solution for secure, real-time collaboration on any device over any network in any location.”

Aharoni adds as long as a user has a server account, WAVE can allow them to communicate with the rest of the team miles away as it integrates with land mobile radio networks to allow voice and text messaging to other MOTOTRBO radio users or with other smartphone users. WAVE 3000 works well with Capacity Plus, Linked Capacity Plus and Connect Plus MOTOTRBO™ systems and can support up to 500 users.

”WAVE 3000 is a simple, easily installed solution that allows management and supervisors to stay in touch with mobile workers using their smartphone or tablet,” the firm said. ”For the business owner who is travelling, or the manager who is working from home, WAVE 3000 delivers the two-way radio experience over any broadband IP network: Wifi, 3G or 4G cellular. You can communicate with your workers from any location.”

The enterprise grade WAVE 5000 can support up to 3,000 users and enables full interoperability between disparate radio systems such as smartphone, radio, computer, landline or any other communications device instantly and securely via PTT.

Through WAVE, a user can connect with talkgroups of thousands of people at once, make discreet private calls or connect with a whole team, group or department. A user can also listen to up to 16 talkgroups simultaneously. It also shows the location of other WAVE users and whether they are online or offline, simplifying supervision and fleet management.
