Equity Bank has finally launched its EazzyBanking suite of applications, a banking as a service platform aimed at disrupting itself through innovative technology to support its customers convenient lifestyles.

According to the bank, EazzyBanking range of digital products are channel agonistic on a versatile technology and capability platform to fulfill customers demands for digital banking. More than 80% of all loans in the bank are now being accessed through  the mobile phone showing an increasing desire for self service banking.

According to Dr. James Mwangi, Equity Group CEO, ”Customers’ banking trends have declared the death of the bank branch as transaction channel, as they increasingly embrace self-service technology platforms that give them freedom, choice and control.”

Dr. James says the move is  a response to customers’ evolving and sophisticated lifestyle-they value more free time and prefer to spend it with family and doing what they love. They prefer self-service digital banking. They also have a higher preference for convenience in payment platforms and access to loans.

Apart from Oracle, the group enlisted several high level partnerships and world leading experts in banking technology, security, big data aggregation and analytics ensuring a high availability, agile and secure operating environment.

Oracle provided software and hardware technology and engineered the platform and cloud service, Apigee provided the API platform to support the self-service developers’ portal for innovations, Airtel support the Equitel MVNO capability, OpenWay provided a card management platform and Infosys provided the core banking platform.
