Angel-GRAMS is South African website that allows you to make contact with the Dead

Yes, the title is right. Angel-Grams.com aims to connect the living and the dead- a year long after your loved ones have passed on.

Developed by Meryl M, a PhD student at the Durban University of Technology, Angel-GRAMS allows users to store final goodbye messages when they are alive then the site delivers the messages to grieving loved one’s when the user passes away.

It allows a user to speak his heart to his loved ones as if he or she was going to die the following minute. The moch farewell messages can then be played to the family when the user s gone.

According to the founder, she was inspired to come up with the site when her dad died unexpectedly of a sudden heart attack.

”I felt so cheated!  There were so many things left unsaid, Meryl said, ”So many regrets and regardless of the number of photos or home videos I looked at, I still yearned to have that same personal connection that we once shared.  I just wanted him to look at me again…to speak to me…just one last time.”

According to her, her greatest fear as a parent was that she would suddenly and unexpectedly die and leave her kids and husband on their own, so she thought Angel-grams.com would help leave a part of herself behind.”

Some of the messages Angel-GRAM has are confessions of secrets kept in the dark by partners, some having sex changes, others having killed or stolen but the rest are love messages  of partners they adored while alive. The platform works simply. Users upload their videos or type in a message and once their messages are stored, their account is locked and can only be activated if they fail to log-in for a year.

According to the firm, the system reads a users inactivity as either having died unexpectedly, alive but medically incapacitated with diseases such as Alzheimer or in a coma or suffered a kidnapping, an abduction or murder. With such conditions, a user’s message is released to the nominated recipient a year after a user death or disappearance.

According to the founder, the GRAMS are personal messages left directly to your beneficiaries and are not a legally binding contract or will. They are an emotional and heartfelt farewell message and a final gift that will enable a user to reconnect with those close to them.

Though membership to Angel-grams.com is free, there is a once off lifetime storage fee of $49 applies.
