Kenya’s Campusbiz.co.ke, is an online internship and jobs portal for students in universities and colleges looking for short term internships or jobs as they study.
Founded by Sam Kauria, the startup aims to help connect students to opportunities online easily minus the pain associated with internships and job seeking without prior experience or academic papers to back them up.
”Internships are the best path for students to gain work experience before graduation. 7 out of 10 interns end up being absorbed as full time employees,” Kauria says. ”’We are Kenya’s First and No. 1 Internships Portal bringing students and employers together in one platform. Our focus is to enable the 950,000 fresh graduates joining the Kenyan Job Market every year to gain hands-on experience with the right internship to begin their professional career journey with.”
Like most job boards, the site works simply. Students sign up and browse through available Internships and apply for the one that best suits their career goals for free.
They then await acceptance for an internship or short term job from the firm they applied at. This gives the students the chance to have hands-on experience on things they learnt at school and may have never practiced them. Internships not only fulfill a students degree requirement but give them experience, help them create a network of contacts and some firms hire this interns to full-time employment.
