In October, Oracle’s Dr. Gilbert Saggia left the firm for SAP but no much information was available. Today, we can confidently report that Dr. Saggia has been appointed as SAP’s new Managing Director in East Africa in a move that will aid the firm’s digital transformation as well as its push shift towards the cloud from enterprise IT.
Born in Kenya and armed with a degree in Medicine and Surgery at the University of Nairobi and an MBA certification from Tulane University in the USA, Dr. Saggia was the immediate Kenya Country Managing Director at Oracle, and before that a Regional Manager: East Africa at Cisco Systems.
Dr. Saggia gained international experience during his tenure as Sales Solutions Manager at Siemens in Belgium.
Brett Parker, Managing Director at SAP Africa, “Dr. Saggia’s experience and skills in championing digital transformation in the public and private sectors, especially in healthcare, as well as his experience with cloud technologies perfectly complement our ambitions in the region. We look forward to seeing how he shapes and leads our vision, strategy, and execution in East Africa, and enhances the value we bring to our customers’ businesses.”
At SAP, Dr. Saggia will oversee the firm’s Digital Platform and pan-African skills development initiatives such as the SAP Code Week, a pan-African digital skills program initiated by the firm to train the youth with ICT skills.
