However the app-based commercial transport models have brought a change in the transport industry.

The transport industry is and will be changing very fast and companies who want to survive as well as countries who would like to address the issues constructively, would have to find applicable policy solutions.

The apps-model also provide flexible work opportunities for drivers, thus adding value to them. App-based platforms, furthermore, change mobility in the transport industry in that they reduce transaction costs and improve the allocation of resources

Many would agree, for instance Uber drivers have no issue with taking you a kilometre down the road, and charging you. Most taxi drivers would charge and complain about that while they still over charge. I think the taxi drivers assume that if it wasn’t for Uber they would have my business. They would not. What they particular feel bitter about is Uber on airport trips, outside hotels and shopping canters.

If I was in taxis industry I would be pushing for all the taxis be on a ride hailing platform so we can call a taxi the Uber or little cab way. I know several doing that, but I would venture to guess that tax owners don’t trust it to be fairly compared to the traditional methods. Many use Uber at an average 4x a week, and once tries to use taxis more frequently, but finally would find the unpredictability of wait times coupled with having to phone someone too much of a hassle. With Uber if I have a 6 minute wait it is a lot.
