MFS Africa, an African-focused mobile money aggregator has appointed Reg Swart, former Visa VP of Strategy and Sales for Emerging Markets Digital, as its newest Chief Commercial Officer.
At MFS Africa,Mr. Swart will be in charge of driving strategic business plans and will also spearhead partnerships with mobile operators to increase MFS Africa’s transactions.
According to Dare Okoudjou, CEO and founder of MFS Africa in a statement: “Our accelerated growth has meant that we need a proven industry practitioner with expertise in building and monetising large-scale networks. Reg will be an intrinsic part of continuing MFS Africa’s growth over the coming years. His experience means he brings unique insight into the individual markets making up the African continent, and the future of payments globally.”
Swart was recently senior VP of Global Business Development at Fundamo, a mobile financial services firm acquired by Visa for $110 million in 2011. He also has extensive experience in mobile banking and payments in Africa and the Middle East.
MFS Africa connects over 120 million mobile money recipients across all major mobile networks in Africa and has over 45 million registered wallets across 13 countries. MFS Africa Hub powers operators P2P wallets beyond their borders and across networks over a single API.
Swart will be responsible for signing up more operators and banks across Africa.
