Just yesterday, Apple released the new iOS 11. The main changes were mostly involving Siri, Maps and Apple Pay. This is not to say that the other minor features are not incredible, in fact, you will find there were a lot of awesome changes in the camera app and the Apple Pencil just to mention a few.

Here is a comprehensive outline of all the features introduced with iOS 11.

Files app

• Search, organize and manage files
• Access cloud saves files from Dropbox, iCloud etc

Control center

• All controls in one page (instead of the two pages of iOS 10)
• 3D touching the icons opens more options
• New brightness and volume sliders
• Screen recording icon added

Notifications

• Pull down shade brings the lockscreen UI
• On the lockscreen, you have to slide up to enter “Ealier Today” section to see notifications

Camera

• Portrait mode usable in lowlight with flash
• Choose ‘Key Photo’ from the live photos roll
• Live photos can now be looped or bounced like in Instagram Boomerang
• Long exposure now available
• New image compression format introduced, called HEIF, high quality photos with half the size, sharable to other platforms
• H.265 video format introduced.

Siri Voice Assistant

• Can translate languages
• Makes News suggestions based on your interests and posts them in new spotlight tab
• Can suggest names when you are typing or search when you are browsing based on you recent activities

Maps

• Now have in-lane guidance and speed limit display
• Indoor mapping of major malls and airports around the world now available

New Animations

• Screen unlock
• Going in and out of apps

Dock

• Available on any lockscreen to offer app shortcuts
• Changes intelligently based on your usage patterns

Multitasking

• Split view can remember previously used combinations and launch them both together eg Safari + iMessage
• Drag and drop content between apps eg photos, text and files

Apple Pencil

• Mark-up a PDF or screenshot
• Tap Apple pencil on the lockscreen to write instant notes
• Handwritten words are now searchable
• Can now scan a document, sign it using Apple pencil and share it

Do not disturb

• Automatically knows when user is driving and gets Do not disturb mode activated
• Auto replies to anyone trying to contact you by notifying them that you are driving.

Air Play 2

• Control speakers in different locations
• Adjust volume individually on each speaker or all of them at once

Others

• App store redesigned to look like Apple Music
• Apple music can let you discover what songs your friends are listening to
• Send and receive money to friends in iMessage conversations using Apple Pay integration
• No labels on docked apps
• Keyboard now has one handed mode, layout moves to one side
