A number of freelance platforms have been launched to further promote this culture, and Efiko has joined, providing an avenue for Nigerian freelancers to access more jobs.
Launched by Henry Oko in February 2016, Efiko is an online marketplace connecting freelance digital service professionals to individuals and businesses across the country looking to find, hire, work with and pay freelance professionals.
Efiko employs escrow payment at the heart of its work desk to facilitate both client & freelancer security in ensuring clients only pay for work received and approved while freelancer only work on jobs that have been funded.
With this feature, clients create milestones which are funded and held in Escrow. When a freelancer delivers on pre-set milestones, funds are released for those milestones to their wallets. All payments are also said to go through a secure payment system which accepts all payment cards.
To get freelancers for projects, clients post jobs with a clear concise description of what they want done. Interested Efikos (freelancers) then submit a bid indicating their desire to execute the said job.
Through this bid, a client is able to make a decision on who to hire. Also accessible to clients is the profiles of freelancers who bid to get the gig. Their profile contain portfolio of work outside the platform, and depends on how long they’ve been on the platform, there’s also ratings and client’s feed back on previous jobs done on the platform.
