Nigerian startups dominated the Ecobank Fintech Challenge final held at the global headquarters of Ecobank in Lome, Togo as three Nigerian Fintech startups IroFit, Kudi.ai, and PayLater came Ist, 2nd, and 3rd respectively.
These startups beat off competition from 20 finalists which cut across Africa.
The winner of the challenge IroFit, which provides a mobile Point of Sale (mPOS) that helps small retailers process in-store card payments in real-time and track their sales, even when there is no Internet connection., was also recently a winner of the Innotribe Startup Challenge, now stand another chance of winning up to $500,000 in prize money.
The winning solution will also receive expert mentoring and access to the Ecobank ecosystem, while all finalists will be inducted into the Ecobank Fintech Fellowship.
The 20 start-ups are: Piggybank.ng (Nigeria), Digi Teller (Ghana), MobiTill (Kenya), TEAM SAFEPAY (Kenya), Wallettec (South Africa), Greenshoe (Kenya), Invest Mobile (Ghana), KUDI(Nigeria), Wayagear Innovations Lagos (Nigeria), Paylater OneFi (Nigeria), PAYVITE (Algeria), PurseNG (Nigeria), Shield Finance (Kenya), IroFit(Nigeria), Circle Group Savings and Investment (Kenya), Inclusive Financial Technologies (Ghana), Electronic Settlement Limited(Nigeria), Social Lender (Nigeria), General Marchant (United States), Mi Nafa (Burkina Faso).
