MAXGo is Providing Lagosians with On-Demand Motorcycle Transportation Service

Commuting in Lagos has for long been a real challenge, and recently there’s been a significant increase in the number of startups aiming to make this easier with eHailing services. While eHailing platforms such as Uber, GoMyWay, Taxify and others have made it easy to get a ride without having to wait at crowded bus-stops and struggle to board uncomfortable public buses, the challenge of sitting for hours in traffic still remains.

MAXGo is attempting to address this challenge, disrupt the eHailing service industry and enable Lagosians escape the daily traffic with it’s motorcycle transport service.

Launched by the Max.ng team, MAXGo is the first ever mobile app for motorcycle transportation in Nigeria.

Just like ride-sharing apps like Uber and co, MAXGo provides Lagosians with the ability to book a motorcycle ride from their mobile phones.

Users book a ride by entering their location and destination, then the app connects them with the closest ‘Champion’ (riders). On arrival, a user is then handed a hairnet and helmet for safety. The platform bill per kilometer, and promises to provide users with passenger liability insurance, in the undesirable event of an accident.

MAXGo uses real-time electornic system to track and monitor all approved motorcycle operators, carries out background checks and management of all motorcycle operators.

“Motorcycle transportation has potential but poor implementation has thwarted its efforts. MAX will help solve the problem with professional management and technology integration,” says Chinedu Azodoh, MAX.ng co-founder. “MAXGo will provide jobs for youths in Lagos, which will, therefore, result in fewer people on the streets”.

Just like similar apps, Nigerians also have the opportunity of cashing out by joining the Champion/Partner network. To join, they simply sign up as riders (Champions) or as motorcycle owners (Partners). “There’s a huge opportunity for Nigerians to make money by joining the network,” Lanre Sonola, Chief Marketing Officer – MAX.ng added. “The market is far wider with MAXGo; users avoid traffic, pay pocket-friendly rates and enjoy security. It is also a lot easier for partners to join the network, with their motorcycles.”

MAXGo was launched on the June 23rd with a fleet of about 100 motorcycles to serve the Yaba, VI, Marina, Ikoyi and Lekki Phase 1 axes. According to the team the motorcycles have 200cc engines.

The platform is currently  is available on Android, with plans to include an iOS app.
