QuickHelp is building a database of businesses in Nigeria in its bid to be the country’s biggest SMS-based business locator helping people and firms to easily locate and find businesses in the community.
Founded by Tosin Odubela, QuickHelp aims to make connect service providers to their customers seamlessly as well as give them the much needed publicity via the SMS service. A user also gets contact details of businesses and service providers in their location only to reduce the risk of fraud or misinformation.
The firm says anyone with a mobile phone can use the QuickHelp service because it is SMS based and companies can reach people who do not use smartphones. To use the platform, you compose your exact location as an SMS, followed by a “#” (e.g surulere#). Then you compose any desired service, product, commodity or brand (like plumber, shoe, books, toilet, cisco) after the “#”. This means you have surulere#plumber (i.e your location#request). Then you send your composed SMS to 09099994357 (0909999HELP). Remember to save the number as QuickHelp on your phone.
After signing up. A user receives an instant SMS response of verified and relevant businesses or contacts within their specified location, or community. A user can also check out activated locations by sending check#location (e.g check#Alagbado) to confirm if the location is listed. To add your business, product, service or brand, simply send “add” to 09099994357 (0909999HELP), and follow instructions you receive as SMS. Please note that all entries are verified before listed. Verification takes 48 hours.
The firm says it rocks because it need no internet and ensures that personal data by engaging only duly registered telephone numbers of businesses and service providers, which can be tracked whenever necessary. The service providers or businesses are verified before enlisted and directory managers are recruited to manage the directory actively, and to engage in periodic verification.
