Really, Samsung have got no chill. I mean, it’s been barely 5 months since the release of the Galaxy S8 and now, the company sets the Galaxy S8 successor, Samsung Galaxy S9 release date to January 2018? This is however still a rumour.
Information from the desk of GSMArena have revealed that come January 2018, Samsung may unveil the Galaxy S9 smartphone – two months earlier than they usually do with any S-series smartphone.
BusinessInsider further structures the rumour to state that the Samsung Galaxy S9 will be announced by the company as soon as January 2018 is close to an end. That’s not all. The source further went on to reveal that before the third quarter of February 2018, the Galaxy S9 would be up for sale.
This move to speed up the release of Galaxy S9 by Samsung is seen as a strategy to keep up with the rivalry that the upcoming iPhone 8 (which Apple will launch come September 12 at the Steve Jobs theater in Cupertino California). It is no doubt that the iPhone 8, when released, will definitely be the talk of the smartphone world for a really long time given the rumoured features of the device. I guess Samsung don’t want the shine of the iPhone 8 to be long, hence the haste in releasing the Galaxy S9 to rival it.
The Inquirer even has it that Samsung have begun production of the next year’s Galaxy S9 already. In fact, the Inquirer gives some of the expected specs of the Samsung Galaxy S9 as seen below with the On-screen fingerprint scanner being the highlight;
- 5.8 inches QHD+ Super AMOLED curved display (570 ppi) for the Galaxy S9
6.2in QHD+ Super AMOLED curved display (529ppi) for the Galaxy S9 Plus
Android 8.0 Oreo Operating System
Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 Chipset (US version) / Samsung Exynos (UK version)
Cat 18 LTE support (1.2Gbps download speeds)
On-screen fingerprint scanner
Dual rear-facing camera
Bixby AI assistant with dedicated button
Isn’t too early for speculations and rumours?But hey! Come to think of it, isn’t it the same rumours we heard about the Samsung Galaxy S8 and the Galaxy Note 8 which all came to pass? Should we believe this about the Samsung Galaxy S9 release date?
