Kenya’s Property Reality Company (PRC) has launched its mobile land buying application in a move expected to simplify land purchasing for over 45m Kenyans leaving in the country and the diaspora.
Dubbed Mploti, the SMS-based app brings land buying to the mobile phone connecting the two seamlessly to provide a convenient and hustle free land buying experience to Kenyans. The SMS based platform allows any Kenyan to buy property through flexible payment plans.
Through the app a buyer gets a full description of the property, its location, Google coordinates and a map through which they can select their preferred plot. They then view the prices and payment plan options. “Traditionally, land buying has been viewed as a complicated and rigid activity. Mploti is changing this by allowing Kenyans to own land by paying as little as Ksh500 a day,” remarked the Chairman Mr. Gacari.
“In the near future Mploti will also link customers to financiers to access mobile loans to purchase the property of their choice,’ he continued. Land buying has traditionally been viewed as a reserve for the middle and upper class, there is still a big market that has been left out – the youth and the common mwananchi who also desire to own real estate and this is the gap that Mploti looks to bridge.
The platform is accessible through any phone meaning any Kenyan above the age of 18 with a simple phone now has an opportunity to own land and pay using a mode that is convenient and fits within their lifestyle.
