Seedstars World is Coming to Douala

Seedstars World, the global seed-stage startup competition for emerging markets and fast-growing startup scenes is coming for the very first time to Cameroon.

With the support of  ActivSpaces and regional partners Enel, Merck, Orange and Microsoft 4Afrika, Seedstars World will be holding a dynamic pitch event on September 29th at ActivSpaces.

Cameroon is among the more than 75 countries Seedstars World is travelling to this year to identify the best seed-stage entrepreneurs and provide them with an opportunity to win up to USD 1,000,000 while networking with investors and mentors from around the world. Its previous participants have raised over USD 61M collectively, providing employment to more than 800 employees worldwide.

The companies selected to pitch at Seedstars Douala need to be less than 2 years old, have raised less than USD 500 000 in funding and have built a minimum viable product, ideally with existing traction. The Seedstars World team is searching for one additional criterion – the startup’s regional and global scalability.

Anis Kallel, Associate at Seedstars World said, “Every year, we try to add more countries to our map, and prove that talent is truly everywhere. This year, we are coming to Cameroon for the first time, and we are excited to work closely with entrepreneurs and identify the role that Seedstars can play to support the local ecosystem in the future.”

Up to 10 of the best seed stage startups in Cameroon will be invited to pitch. Applications are open for a few more days, and startups can apply here by September 22th.
