The 2017 edition of the Jumia Black Friday sale will begin from November 13 and run for a month to help satisfy Kenyans urge to shop for quality stuff at affordable prices online.
In a survey conducted by Jumia, 54 per cent of respondents stating that they prefer a longer period of sales say a month compared to 16 per cent who voted for a 2-week sale duration while 20 per cent a week of promotional sales. The remaining 10 per cent of the people involved in survey favoured a 1-day promo.
Black Friday, the world’s biggest online shopping event, is set to excite shoppers as it unveils yet another milestone two years since its inception in Kenya by Jumia in 2015. This year’s Black Friday is projected to be four times bigger than the Jumia Anniversary sale held in June, which was twice as big as the previous year’s Black Friday.
“Unlike the previous two years when the promo lasted a day or two, this year’s edition is expected to be more exciting with plans already underway to ensure Jumia customers get the best shopping deals and experience for four consecutive weeks,” said Sam Chappatte, the Jumia Kenya MD.
The Black Friday sale is expected to be an extension of a good run Jumia Kenya has had this year. In July, Jumia experienced its biggest month in terms of traffic as it was forced to shut down its website due to overwhelming demand. However, the firm expects to have three times much more demand on Black Friday than it had in July on its anniversary.
Dubbed ‘31 Days of Deals’, this year’s Black Friday will run for one month – from November 13 to December 13 – with shoppers being treated to sales and festivities with different deals being released every day.
