Official: Nokia 2 gets unveiled with huge 4100mAh battery and low price tag

HMD has been gradually broadening their line up to cover all segments of the market. At the very top they have the Nokia 8 (at least until the rumoured Nokia 9 arrives) and the lower midrange is covered by the Nokia 3. The only missing piece was the low end, entry level device, but that just got sorted with the new Nokia 2.

This device will be the most affordable of them all. With a price of 99 Euros, the Nokia 2 will make a good device for first time users, youth or anyone who simply wants a smartphone without breaking the bank. It could also serve as a great secondary device. What do you get for that price? A 5-inch HD smartphone running on pure Android 7.1 Nougat with a promise of Oreo update coming soon.

Despite the low price tag, there are some premium features such as the huge 4100mAh battery that is sure to last long on that modest HD screen, in fact, a 2-day battery life is assured by HMD if you use the phone for 5 hours per day.  Additionally, it has Google Assistant built-in, which Nokia says you won’t find in any other entry level device. The internals include a Snapdragon 212 processor, 1GB RAM and 8GB of expandable internal storage.

The rear camera is set at 8MP while the selfie one is 5MP. We can only hope that HMD put some effort into the photography to pay homage to the Nokia of yore. Fortunately, the build quality was kept up to Nokia standard thanks to a aluminum frame and a poly-carbonate rear panel. Poly carbonate is a harder and more durable version of plastic.

The device will be available in three colors including black, white and copper. It will hit the stores in mid-November
