360 Afrika is hosting a 3-day Augmented/Virtual Reality Hackathon at Nairobi Garage, on Friday 20th April to Sunday 22nd April 2018 in collaboration with the Lagos based VR/AR studio Imisi 3D.
With 7 countries participating, it will be the first pan-African hackathon aimed at building a diverse community of hackers, storytellers and entrepreneurs around emerging AR/VR technologies and work together to help create the future of technology in Africa.
35+ teams are expected from Egypt, Tunisia, Nigeria, Cameroon, Kenya, Mozambique, and South Africa will hack AR/VR simultaneously across the continent.
Applications are open for teams of 3-5 individuals until Thursday 5th April 2018. Individuals can also apply and we will do our best to match their skills with others. We welcome applications in gaming, AR/VR apps, films, distributions ideas and more. The theme is : ‘Create the Future’ and ideas should be focused on Education, Healthcare, Tourism, the Environment, or Social Justice.

Prizes: Over $15,000 worth of prizes will be awarded in total at the seven hackathons including trips to a Unity conference in Europe, app subscriptions and business advisory support from Fuse Catalysts, Black Rhino and more.
Where: The hackathon is part of the 360Afrika Festival and will be held at Nairobi Garage at Pintree Plaza off of Ngong Road (7th floor).

Our goal is to build community around these new technologies and help jumpstart the AR/VR ecosystem in the region.
