Microsoft will sponsor this year’s Technology category in the BAKE Awards 2018 as the awards hit their 7th year.
This is the third time Microsoft is supporting BAKE awards. It did in 2012, 2015 and now 2018.
Confirming the development to the Bloggers Association of Kenya (BAKE), Sebuh Haileleul, Microsoft General Manager for East Africa in a statement said “Microsoft is delighted to be part of this year’s BAKE Awards. In a world being transformed by technology every day, it pleases us to see more people embracing blogging to inform and educate customers on the latest business, technology solutions as well as trends.”
This year’s competition began on January 11th, 2018, where blog submissions were accepted in 23 categories which included business, tech, agriculture, health, fashion among others. Thereafter, a panel of judges selected the best 5 nominees from the successful submissions in each of the categories. The competition is now in the public voting phase which will close on April 30th, 2018.
Microsoft is working towards empowering every person and every organisation to achieve more and believes that access to information plays a vital role on the journey towards ensuring that more and more people are well informed and the power of technology provides that vital access to this content.
The BAKE awards are in line with increased access to information.
“We are grateful for the support that companies like Microsoft have given the blogging community and we are looking forward to more collaborations.” said BAKE Chairperson Kennedy Kachwanya. ”In a bid to support the creation of local content in more topic areas, we introduced 3 categories this year, i.e. Environment, Beauty and Hair and Video Blog (Vlog)”.
